Jim Stewart bought his first computer in 1983 started using the Internet in 1992 and became an Internet Consultant in 1995. In 1991 he graduated from The National Theatre Drama School after a three year acting course.. his other passion.
His expertise in the online space has been greatly sought after by both private enterprise and the public sector. He was the senior consultant behind some of Australia’s first corporate websites including the RACV and the 1995 TV Week Logie Awards. In 1996 he was the project lead on Australia’s first commercial VoIP project and consulted on a number of other leading edge projects.
In 1998 he formed Stew Art Media to focus on the emerging area of rich media on the Internet. He subsequently consulted to national broadcasters in Pakistan, Malaysia, Fiji, Sri Lanka and Brunei on streaming media.
From 1998 to 2001 he produced and presented a daily video technology news show called IOB CoffeeBreak which was syndicated to Yahoo!, AOL (US), Real Networks (US), Microsoft Windows Media Guide (Aust.), Optus@Home (Broadband), Seek and ZD Net (Aust). It had over 50,000 viewers per month from 23 different countries. He then also co-wrote, directed and produced the world's first online audio comedy The Netboat. It had 25000 listeners per month.
At the same time Jim Stewart was also a regular contributor to TTalk.com, a US based Internet Radio Technology Show.
From 1997 to 2002 Jim could be heard regularly on ABC Radio (Gael Jennings and Peter Clarke) as the Internet consultant and he has also appeared on Network 10’s The Panel, Channel 9’s A Current Affair and he has written for Australian Personal Computer Magazine.
He has spoken at Networld Interop on emerging technologies and most recently ran a Digital Rights Management workshop for the mobile device industry at Mobile Content World in Sydney May 2005.
Jim Stewart has been the Systems Architect and Streaming Producer for over 200 live webcasts of such music acts as, Melissa Etheridge, Gene Simmonds, Black Eyed Peas, Anastascia, Youthu Yindi and actors including Rik Mayall, Molly Ringwald and Sean William Scott. Stew Art Media’s current clients include Multimedia Victoria, Department of Industry, Innovation and Regional Development, Department of Victorian Communities and Metricon Homes.
