Wimax in AustraliaPreviously I asked the question "Why WiMAX" and explained why I thought the Telcos won't like it terribly much. After not much investigation it seems that the WiMAX spectrum in Australia is licensed to Unwired an ASX listed company (UNW is the ASX code) . Let me make it perfectly clear that I am NOT a financial advisor in any shape or form but I am surprised their share price has not shot through the roof over the last twelve months. Unwired seem to have most of Sydney covered already. Given that WiMAX is soooo much better than WifI for coverage and infrastructure costs I would have thought investors hungry for the next tech boom would be pouncing on this stock.

Mars and Snickers recall, extortion threatI was absolutely appalled at the Mars and Snickers extortion threat in Sydney last week.
In case you missed it some nutcase in Sydney told MasterFoods (the manufacturers of Mars Bars and Snickers Bars aka Marathon) that they had contaminated 7 Mars and Snickers bars in Sydney. So MasterFoods immediately issued a recall across NSW. The recall did not affect any other states.
What would posess someone to do this is beyond me. Apparently this extortionist has some beef against another company which MasterFoods has no relationship with whatsoever. Fortunately for me I live in Melbourne so my supply of Mars and Snickers is uninterupted but I feel sorry for those Sydney siders who are currently missing out on their Mars a day!
